Days: On the Jeff Probst Show

Today, Monday November 5, 2012, some Days of Our Lives cast members appeared on the Jeff Probst Show. The show's anniversary is later this week (November 8). Here is a quick summary of the program.

Kristian Alfonso (Hope) and Drake Hogestyn (John) were the first two guests. The Bo and Hope clip was from the 80s after he kidnapped her on the motorcycle. The John and Marlena clip was also from the 80s, back before we knew John was John. Deidre Hall (Marlena) was on with a clip and called him a PITA to work with though she was joking. A viewer named Sharon was brought to get a backstage tour done by Deidre at the studio. While she was there, she did a parody scene with Ari Zucker (Nicole), Joe Mascolo (Stefano) and John Aniston (Victor) also did amusing riffs off of their characters.

After this James Scott (EJ) and Galen Gering (Rafe) came out at Jeff's show. Then Bryan Datillo (Lucas) came onto the stage. They all talk about acting in the scenes. Then everyone on stage including Jeff Probst starts reading lines, and cheesy organ music played in the background. Some of the actors read lines that fit their characters' plots.

They also did a trivia challenge, with actors versus super fans. Who voices the opening? The fans got it right MacDonald Carey. The actors were asked what does Bo called Hope..of course Fancy Face was the answer and Kristian answered. What year did John and Marlena first marry? The fans were wrong, they said 1987, Drake said 1986, though technically it was 1999 when he was John as Drake played Roman in the 80s. (BTW I love that question, it is the kind of question I would ask because it is tricky.) The next question to the actors was how did Hope prove she was Gina, and Kristian remembered it was by opening a puzzle box. The fans had to answer how many of Sami's kids did Lucas father and it is two Will and Allie, which they got right. The fans also got the location of Salem correct as they don't announce a state on air. They each won a copy of the 45th anniversary book, as did the entire studio audience.

In the on the couch segment. The first audience member asked what do people wear under the covers. Bryan says he wears nothing, while Kristian wears sweats. Another audience member asked Kristian if something ever happened embarrassing in a love scene. Once Peter and Kristian had an accident both of them falling off the bed.

At the end of the show, Jeff and everyone else toasts the show' s anniversary. During the credits, we see fans talk about watching and some actors in the background.

What I appreciated was that they showed some clips including those of actors who weren't guests on the program and hadn't been for years. Then again you show me 60s or 70s clips and I won't be whining. Yes, a lot of people over the years weren't shown, but this wasn't a tribute at a Daytime Emmys which I would hold to a higher standard due to its historical value.
